A Play, A Pint & A Pie

In an homage to the great tradition of Glasgow, Scotland theater, A Play, A Pint & A Pie is coming to Hopkinton!

6:00 PM: Entry and grab your pint (or root beer) and pie
6:20 PM: First play starts

Presented by Enter Stage Left Theater, this one night only outdoor event (for patrons 13 and older) will present a series of original one act plays from writers all over the world. The evening includes two comedies and two dramas with a wide array of themes from aging, equity for women in government, gun control, the death penalty, religion, and the life affirming lessons we all learned from Gilligan's Island.

Your ticket buys you entry to watch the one acts, a savory pie from Ja Patty, and a pint of ale (or root beer for those under 21 years old). Plus, enjoy a sweet TableTop pie for dessert. Ja Patty's will offer an option of 3 pies: Beef, Chicken and Vegetarian. See their menu HERE

A judging panel will vote for a winning writer, and audience members will get to vote for their favorite too!

Bring a blanket or lawn chair and and enjoy the show!

The Plays:

CASTAWAYS is an absurdist tragicomedy depicting two elderly women who conflate the grim realities of dementia care with the comic isolation of the shipwrecked crew from the long-running series Gilligan’s Island. The piece explores existential questions: How do we face the coming day when we can’t remember the last one? How do we spend our life while we are waiting to be rescued from it? What hope is there for castaways?

LAST RITES - What would you admit to if you only had a few minutes left to live, or if you had an eternity? A Prisoner and a priest exchange confessions in the 30 minutes prior to the prisoner's execution, as they both seek to understand their purpose in life.

THERE'S A TRAFFIC JAM IN THE LADIES ROOM - Observing that the elected female membership in the U.S. Senate has increased significantly enough to warrant expanded bathroom space for the women senators, a female senator from Minnesota brings the issue to the Senate floor where she engages in debate with a male senator.

THE PROCESS - An elementary school teacher meets with a counselor following a traumatic incident at the school. Their session leads to surprising revelations about what actually happened on that fateful day.

In the event of rain the production will move indoors to the Delbridge Family Performance Space and masks and proof of vaccination will be required.
