Enter Stage Left Theater's summer musical production is FIREBRINGER!

Book by Matt Lang, Nick Lang, & Brian Holden

Music & Lyrics by Meredith Stepien & Mark Swiderski

Director: Alyssa Rae Surrette

Music Director: Eric Balboni

At the dawn of humanity, one tribe of cave-people survives the many trials of prehistoric life under the wise leadership of Jemilla, The Peacemaker. Jemilla taught her people to express themselves, rather than bashing each others' heads with rocks and eating each others' babies. But one member of the tribe doesn't seem to fit in: Zazzalil. She's always trying to invent things to make life easier… for herself. While out hatching her latest scheme, Zazzalil stumbles upon the most important discovery in history. One that will pit her tribe against wooly mammoths, saber-toothed tigers, and change the world forever. She'll travel from omega to alpha, and become… the Firebringer!

Masterclass: Authentic Vocal Freedom w/Rachel MacKenzie

Grades: 5th- adult

Days: Tuesday

Class Time: 03:00 PM- 05:00 PM

+ More Info

Find Authentic Vocal Freedom in the Room

The human singing voice is a complicated instrument, because humans are beautifully complicated. In this masterclass we’ll try to demystify some of those complex areas by incorporating information about vocal health, habilitation, technique, style, the mind-body connection, and more. Whether you’re a seasoned singer or new to singing, you’re sure to walk away with some new ideas for your practice routines and some new tools and approaches to this ever expanding art form. Whether it be an audition room,  a karaoke bar, the stage, or a practice room, my goal for you is that you walk in having more knowledge and confidence in yourself so you can be your authentic self in the room and make beautiful expressive art with your voice and your whole person.

To work, either bring one 2-minute song or two contrasting 1-minute cuts. These can be things in your book that you want a new lens for, new songs you’re trying out or have a vocal trouble spot in, or even better any song that you love that just moves you to feel joy or lights a fire in your soul. MT, Pop, Rock, Jazz, Folk, R&B, Opera, and anything else, are all welcome. Please also bring a sense of play, a notebook, any voice questions you have, and a water bottle in case you need it. If you are working you’re welcome to audio record your individual time (please do not record anything else).

Rachel MacKenzie is a versatile NYC-based versatile performer, musician, and teaching artist. Originally from Milford she grew up a student at Enter Stage Left Theatre and the HCA and is so grateful to be back in the community.

Rachel is an Adjunct Professor at The University of Albany in the Department of Music & Theatre where she teaches voice, ensemble singing, and music directs. She also works as Adjunct Faculty at NYU as an accompanist and coach. Rachel also works as a Faculty Member of Ohana Art’s Summer Academy in Honolulu, HI for students K-12, teaches as a team member at NYC Vocal Studio in Manhattan, and maintains a private voice studio. Rachel received an Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from NYU, a Masters in Music in vocal Performance for Musical Theatre from NYU, Bachelor of Arts degrees in Piano, Voice, and Anthropology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and holds additional training from New England Conservatory and Berklee College of Music.
