Hopkinton Center for the Arts Educational Classes

Starting this April, the Hopkinton Center for the Arts has transitioned many of our classes into a virtual format. This is a great opportunity to keep yourself or your child busy. Art has a way of helping us express ourselves when the world around us is in turmoil--it is more than a painting, a song, or a scultpture it is a way of expressing our feelings and emotions when words are not enough. Our artist-faculty is here to lead you on your way in these small online art classes.  Classes include programs in the fine arts, acting and theater, music, singing, movie-making, creative writing, and ceramics. Young adults are welcome to enroll in most adult courses. We are currently using Zoom to host all classes, to learn more about this easy to use platform, including how to join a meeting/class, visit this link: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362193-Joining-a-Meeting.

If you need financial assistance during this time, please contact us for information on our scholarship program at info@hopartscenter.org or fill out our online scholarship form.

In addition, we have extended our HCA Summer Early Registration Discount of $20 off through May 10.

Online - FREE: Oil Painting

Grades: 9th- adult

Days: Monday

Class Time: 02:00 PM- 03:00 PM

+ More Info

Mondays at 2pm with Zoom with Marion Buricatu

Registering is free. The HCA asks that you make a donation to help the center in lieu of paying tuition for this 6 class session. LINK: donation

Every dollar raised will be matched dollar for dollar up to $10,000.

Here is how it works:

  • Each student works on his/her own project.
  • We use a shared folder on Google drive called "HCA Oil Painting Class Sharing Folder," where everybody can upload a picture of their painting. (If you can't do it, you can send your picture directly to the instructor). This process allows us to have a better image quality, even if it will never be as good as real life eyes!
  • Marion will try to send a weekly challenge about basic painting skills that will not take you more than 20 minutes to do at home.
  • Once a week, on Monday at 2pm, we will meet on Zoom and share our projects. Some will just want to show and tell, some will look for feedback/criticism, some will just have nothing to share that week but enjoy participating in this kind and stimulating environment!
  • The meeting is supposed to last about 40 minutes, but you can leave anytime.
  • Marion will supply a materials list for new students.
