Ceramics Masterclass: Throwing & Surface Treatment with Raku Guru Steven Branfman (2 day)

Join master potter and Raku Guru Steven Branfman in this weekend workshop at the HCA Ceramics Studio, where he will demonstrate his approaches to throwing, surface decoration, and glazing and share aspects of business and marketing! Through his relaxed, friendly, and informal style, Steven will share his knowledge and experiences from his 50-year career as a studio potter, Founder and Director of The Potters Shop & School in Needham, teacher, studio designer and manager, and writer.

Throughout the eight hours you will get to spend with him, Steven will show a variety of techniques, including throwing off the hump, throwing large forms, coil, and throw, and throwing large platter forms. Using various tools and objects, he'll also demonstrate inlaying colored glass, adding dry clays to wet surfaces, expanding forms from the inside, and various glazing methods, including controlled pouring, dipping, brushing, and layering.
