Stressed out? Time to sketch! The goal of this class is promote confidence in a student's ability to improve their drawing by attuning their observation, trying new things, and practice. In this class, we will execute a variety of techniques to warm up and improve observation skills. These exercises are great for all levels. When ready, students will work towards finished drawings and developing their own practice routines to keep their drawing progressing when not in class. Classes may either start with a friendly and encouraging group critique of drawings or a demonstration of that day’s technique. Instructor: Meredith Fitzgerald. 6 classes. This class is offered onsite only. We will go outside whenever weather permits. Space is limited for on-site programs in order to be compliant with the Massachusetts guidelines for gatherings.
Previously titled "Landscape/Nature Drawing", this class will explore beyond landscapes to include a variety of techniques drawing from observation those objects that are all around them in the HCA building (as opposed to drawing from photographs). Each class will cover various techniques that will build to a final project. Students will be encouraged to do independent sketching in between classes.

From beginners to more accomplished oil painters. Limited and intimate setting: 6 students maximum.The instructor, Marion Buricatu, gives individual coaching to each student in the class. Classes are lively and very hands-on; you will get as little or much time as you need. In this multicultural environment, everyone brings a different perspective and different levels of experience, with Marion making it all work together. It is much more than just a painting class! Six classes per session.

Drawing is one of the most relaxing ways to de-stress and express yourself creatively! This course for beginners will explore basic drawing skills using various mark making media including, graphite, ink and charcoal. A simple materials list will be provided to students. 6 classes. Instructor: Lee Ball. This is a wonderful opportunity for families and friends to connect via Zoom each week to take a class together! For those who wish to take a break from the computer screen and interact with students in a setting that allows for social distancing, they are welcome to take the class at the HCA while the teacher Zooms in to provide instruction.
