Online Sculpey Clay Workshop: Board games

+ More Info

These polymer clay classes will focus on utilizing the unique attributes of this brightly colored home-baked clay to create one-of-a-kind miniature pieces of art that can be both functional (e.g., as toys or jewelry) and beautiful!

In this series of 1.5 hour online workshops, we will work with students to build techniques to create things from life and imagination in 3-D. We will be using Zoom to meet with students and share our energy and knowledge about utilizing this colorful bake-at-home clay. Each 1.5 hour workshop is $20.00.

These clay classes will be offered online, so students will need a phone, computer, or ipad with a camera and a small space to work at home. Students will also need aluminum foil to cover their work space, and will need to purchase their own supplies. Sculpey clay is available on Amazon (see link below). If the delivery window doesn't work out, check with Joann Fabrics stores. They have different sets of sculpey clay that may be available for curbside pick-up.

Art with Marion Buricatu (Grades 5th-12th)

+ More Info

Join Marion Buricatu via Zoom for four Thursday classes at 3 pm.

Here is how it works:

  • Each student will work on his/her own project.
  • We will use a private shared folder on google drive where everyone can upload a picture of their painting. (If you are unable do this, you can send your picture directly to Marion).
  • Marion will send a weekly challenge about basic painting skills that will take students no more than 20 minutes to do at home.
  • Once a week, on Thursday 3pm, we will meet on password-protected Zoom  session and share our projects.  (To learn about Zoom – a super easy-to-use platform – through live interactive trainings, visit this link.) Students are invited to show and tell or ask for feedback/critique, or simply participate in this nurturing, stimulating environment!
  • The meeting will last  up to 60 minutes, but you can leave at anytime.
  • Marion will supply a materials list for new students.

Online Ceramics Hand building II - Saturday

+ More Info

We are going back to the roots of our pottery traditions! Ever wonder how they used to (and still do!) make such beautiful vessels without a potter’s wheel? Join us for our unique online ceramics class where you will learn a variety of hand building techniques (including coil, slab and pinch/pull) in this four-week, project-based, on-line ceramic class. Projects may include decorative and functional coil pots, bowls, or containers, ocarinas, mugs, vases.

When the session is complete, we will let you know when you can drop off the pieces you create in this class for bisque firing. To finish your piece, you will be invited to a glazing class when the Center re-opens.

Included in the class fee is 12.5 pounds of clay. Students will need to provide their own tools. If you need to purchase tools, we have some basic kits available for $10. Finally, students will need to supply a piece of heavy canvas, wooden board or drywall at least 18” x 18” to work on, and a rolling pin (or fat dowel).

5 Classes Total: (4) 2-hour classes online, plus one in-person glazing class (Date TBA)
