Students will perform the play "Superheroes" by Ian McWethy. For superheroes, saving the world is tough, but the time spent away from work is tougher. The Hulk has to do taxes, a crime-fighting sidekick joins a support group, and Batman goes stir-crazy without enough criminals to take down. "Superheroes" is a funny, fast-paced series of vignettes that explores how the caped crusaders deal with life in street clothes.
This class is a performance based class that meets once a week. Anyone who registers will be cast in the show. Max 20 students. Auditions for placement in the show will occur on the first day of class.
The performance will take place on Saturday, April 1st. There will be additional dates added to the last week of March to prepare for the April 1st performance.

Welcome to ballet! Ballet 1 with intro to Jazz aims to be an inspiring and imaginative class designed to be a foundation for basic dance principles and the proper French ballet terminology. An emphasis is placed on musicality and creativity while basic coordination skills and the fundamentals of classical ballet are explored through the use of props and imagery. Individual expression and improvisation is encouraged in a safe and welcoming atmosphere. Students round out the hour with an Intro to Jazz dance. Dancers are welcome to enroll in more than one class each week. Suggested age range: Kindergarten in the fall of 2022 and 1st grade. Students in Ballet 1 (kindergarten and up) may opt to participate in the Spring Concert as well as the January and June Showcases.
This class will take place at the HCA South Street dance studio location at 22 South Street, 2nd floor, Suite 205.

Classes are both technique and performance focused, incorporating yoga, cardio, strength training, and elements of ballet, modern, jazz, and improv dance techniques. You’ll begin with a full body warm up to build strength and flexibility, then progress to exploring larger movement sequences traveling through space.

The Hopkinton Center for the Arts is excited to announce our 2023 one act playwriting competition for budding or seasoned playwrights! Selected one acts will be performed August 2023 at the "A Play, A Pint & A Pie" event.
To pay your script submission fee(s) please click on the Buy Tickets button below. (The number of "tickets" you purchase should correspond to the number of scripts you will be submitting.
COMPETITION RULES
Length of play No more than 20 minutes (approx 20 pages)
Subject matter Open (must be appropriate for a PG-13 audience). May be comedy, drama, etc. (Please consider whether your play can be performed outdoors with modest technical requirements)
Status of play The one act plays should be unpublished. It is acceptable to submit one acts that have been previously produced by a non-professional group (i.e. community theater).
Number of entries Up to three entries per playwright
Submissions & Fees Submissions will be accepted up until 11:59 pm on March 31, 2023. There is a $20 per script submission fee. Scripts should be in Word or PDF form and emailed upon payment of the script submission fee.
Competition Announcement Finalists (between 4-6) will be determined by the end of April 2022. All entries are final; no revisions will be accepted. Plays will not be returned or critiqued. The finalists plays will be performed on August 26, 2023.
Prize The juried winning playwright will win $200.
