HCA Member Art Show

Exhibition Overview
A showcase of works from a community of artists comes together this month at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts in the Annual HCA Members Art Exhibition. There are common threads throughout the artwork that depict what brings us peace, what amuses us, and people and places that bring us hope. Reading in a quiet corner, playing with layers of colorful paint, and spaces that help us to heal whether it be a church or a sunset. There is a sense of hope and new horizons depicted in the artwork this year. "Art continues to heal and nurture us" says HCA Visual Arts Director and exhibit juror Sarah Alexander.
The exhibition includes work from 56 artists from 18 towns and two states. The annual presentation of works from members of the HCA runs from 12/17/21 through 1/28/22 in the Lotvin Family Gallery at 98 Hayden Rowe Street, Hopkinton, MA. And thank you to our guest juror, Elizabeth Alexander.
About our juror:
Elizabeth Alexander is an interdisciplinary artist specializing in sculptures and installations made from deconstructed domestic materials. Through labored processes separating decorative print from found objects she unearths elements of human behavior and hidden emotional lives that exist within the walls of our homes. She holds degrees in sculpture from the Cranbrook Academy, MFA, and Massachusetts College of Art, BFA, where she discovered the complex nature of dissecting objects of nostalgia. Alexander’s work has recently been featured in the Burke Prize finalist exhibition at the Museum of Art and Design, State of the Art at the Crystal Bridges Museum, and Paper Routes, Women to Watch 2020 at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, and is included in permanent collections at the Crystal Bridges Museum in Bentonville, AR and the Mint Museum in Charlotte, NC. She is currently an Associate Professor at the UNC School of the Arts.
