Stressed out? Time to sketch! The goal of this class is promote confidence in a student's ability to improve their drawing by attuning their observation, trying new things, and practice. In this class, we will execute a variety of techniques to warm up and improve observation skills. These exercises are great for all levels. When ready, students will work towards finished drawings and developing their own practice routines to keep their drawing progressing when not in class. Classes may either start with a friendly and encouraging group critique of drawings or a demonstration of that day’s technique. Instructor: Meredith Fitzgerald. 6 classes. This class is offered onsite only. Space is limited for on-site programs in order to be compliant with the Massachusetts guidelines for gatherings.

Actors Studio for Teens

The objective of this class is to allow beginner and intermediate teen (high school) actors a chance to explore the art of acting in a judgment-free, team-oriented way. You will learn terminology, how to break down a scene, and learn the tools to help you build a character from within. We will explore different methods of acting through scene work and character development. The class will work toward a showcase for the final class however the emphasis for this class is the work. This class is for the serious student. Students will "audition" during the first class for placement purposes. There will be work required outside of class. 8 classes. Limited to 6 students in studio. The HCA is open to offering students the opportunity to Zoom into the live class from the comfort of their home. Open Studio for Visual Artists w/Marion Buricatu

Under the guidance of instructor Marion Buricatu, these three Saturday workshops are for students wishing to find and enhance their fundamental art skills in drawing and painting. Students may bring a project of their choosing at any stage of the process, and Marion will customize her instruction and offer lessons on elements of art and technique. Students should bring their own supplies. Spots are limited to 6 people to allow for individual attention.

This course for beginners will explore basic drawing skills using various mark making media including, graphite, ink and charcoal. A simple materials list will be provided to students. 6 classes. Instructor: Lee Ball. This is a wonderful opportunity for families and friends to connect via Zoom each week to take a class together! For those who wish to take a break from the computer screen and interact with students in a setting that allows for social distancing, they are welcome to take the class at the HCA while the teacher Zooms in to provide instruction.

Experiment with Watercolor - Session 2

Learn about color, papers, brushes, drawing and composition, as well as many great painting techniques that will get you working and playing with watercolors! Instructor Sarah Alexander will provide 90 minutes of online instruction via Zoom. Instructor Sarah Alexander will also offer a mid week brief one on one or "check in" session to each student if the want advice on art in progress  between classes.

6 classes. A materials list will be provided. A laptop, tablet or video-conferencing device and a reliable internet connection are required for this class.
