Cartooning Club - Spring

Ages 8-13|Grades 3rd-8th

The Cartoon Club will give students s a well-rounded base and get them started on mastering the styles they desire to doodle in. Students will survey the works of several great artists and study their forms and lines. We will learn the tools of the trade, and how to study the fundamentals of simple perspective and anatomy. This is an online class. If two or more students wish to gather socially to take the class while the teacher Zooms in, the HCA will provide a classroom and coordinate the Zoom session on site.

This school vacation workshop is full of fun! CARTOONING  is a about drawing  cartoon characters that are cute, grotesque, or even bizarre representations of people, animals, and even supernatural creatures.  This class will focus on core drawing skills that apply to all kinds of drawing, both cartoon abstract and realistic-representational.

Instructor: Sahar Ghavimi

This workshop will be offered on site at the HCA. If weather permits, the class will take place outdoors on HCA grounds. All safety protocols will be observed and enforced.

Hyperrealism is a genre of visual arts resembling a high-resolution photograph. In this exciting new class, students will use photographs solely as a reference as they learn to create details that go beyond what is in the original image. Textures, surfaces, lighting effects, and shadows are painted, resulting in art that appears as though it’s three-dimensional and tangible.

For grades 6th-adult.  Six 2-hour Saturday classes.

Hopkinton Center for the Arts—Art Around the World series presents a free children's cultural program. You and your child are welcome to join us  as we celebrate a different culture each month with instructor Judith Smith. Kids will listen to a story, hear a themed-song and have fun making a culturally themed art craft. Program runs Saturday 2:00 to 3:00 pm via a Zoom link. Participants will be sent a list in advance of simple materials to provide your child for the craft. A computer screen and internet connection is required.
