FEBRUARY VACATION


DANCE

Dance Explorations Workshop
Kids will have fun exploring all the different styles of dance, including hip-hop, lyrical, and basic tumbling. A short hip-hop and lyrical combination, as well as tumbling skills learned will be showcased to family at the end of the second day. Students should bring a snack and bottle of water. Princess Dance Workshop
For little princesses and princes. Kids will have a blast playing games, dancing to Disney favorites, learning basic tumbling skills, and making royal crafts. Activities will also help students with their coordination and balance skills. Students are encouraged to wear their favorite costumes. Instructor: Alyssa McQuillan

VISUAL ARTS

Winter Wonderland Arts
Students will work with mixed-media art materials to create unique winter wonderland creations in this three-day workshop. Instructor: Celeste Falcone

Winter Scene - Fiber Arts 
Utilizing embroidery, applique, and weaving students will create winter animals and/or landscapes in this three-day workshop. Instructor: Celeste Falcone

Winter Landscapes - Painting
Students will use acrylic paints to work on realistic and abstract winter scenes. No experience required. Instructor: Celeste Falcone

Hand Lettering & Calligraphy
With the popularity of hand made lettered signs at an all time high, this workshop will have students making their own personalized project using their name and positive hand-written expressions. The workshop will introduce and teach the different types of fonts and tips for practicing at home. *Kids can bring a lunch if they register for both Hand Lettering & Calligraphy Workshop (9am to 12pm) and our Personality Journal Workshop (12:30-2:30pm) for a full day program.

Personality Journal
Create a journal that reflects the individual personality of its creator. Leaves, grass, shells, bark, and other natural elements may be used as embellishments on the cover and barrier pages of the journal. *Kids can bring a lunch if they register for both Personality Journal (12:30-2:30pm) and our Hand Lettering & Calligraphy Workshop (9am to 12pm) for a full day program.

SPECIALTY

Magic Boot Camp 
Professional Magician Chris Herrick is back for this magical workshop. Students will learn the art of performing magic tricks to amaze their friends and family. The course cost includes a $40 magic kit for every student with materials they can take home to perfect what they learn. Parents will be invited to the end of the last session to see a performance by the students. 3-D Mixed Media Art Fun

Join Instructor Judy Smith over this 2-date vacation workshop where students will have fun with mixed media art! Using various media such as Sharpie, pastel, pain, clay & yarn, Instructor Judy Smith will guide students to complete thematic 3-D art projects. All materials included.

Arts in Bloom Workshop

Let's blossom into Spring!  We will create flowers as all the great artists before us! So watch out Monet, Georgia O'Keefe, Van Gogh and Manet! Students will create their own blooms after studying the greats! Children will have their choice of mediums to explore color and texture. Those 4th graders who register and are also enrolled in Magic Bootcamp from 10am-12 pm should bring a lunch. Whimsical Sea Creatures Vacation Workshop

Let's burst into summer...release the Kraken! Join us for an exploration of these mythical and legendary creatures and invent your own marine monstrosity. Students will create underwater seascapes with fish, sea animals, mermaids, sea horses, coral, and seaweed. They will learn about how the size relationships of their fish can help to show distance. They will create a large variety of sea creatures in their multi-media pieces of art using many different materials including crayon, watercolor and collage. Those 4th graders who register and are also enrolled in Magic Bootcamp from 10am-12 pm should bring a lunch. Photo Fun for Kids Workshop

Grab your iphone, ipad or other device that can take digital photos! You will have fun creating your own vision photo fun at the HCA. Using a model dressed in fun costumes, we will be experimenting with lights and shadows. There will also be plenty of helpful guidance and suggestions to enhance your passion for artful photography. At the end of the workshop, children will email their favorite picture to the instructor for a take home photograph! Photographs can be picked up at the HCA, approximately one week after the workshop. Instructor: Chelsea Bradway

Theater Fun 101

Whether a natural ham, or a kid with a great imagination who feels a little shy, theater classes are a fun way for kids to build confidence. Kids will engage in theater games, improv, and scene work. Choose one, two, or all three days. Each day will be different. Instructor: Maureen Regean.

Audition Boot Camp: Master the Monologue - Sing a Song

Ace your next audition by learning to select and perfect age-appropriate monologues and songs. Students should bring in one monologue (preferably memorized) and/or sheet music for one song. This audition workshop will focus on how to select and interpret theater monologues or songs. Instructor Maureen Regan.
