Youth & Teen Dance
Youth classes at the HCA Dance Studio are the perfect opportunity to explore dance in a welcoming environment. We have classes for beginner level students to intermediate and advanced dancers. Our students make lasting friendships and learn from a dedicated team of dance faculty and guest faculty.
Please note that the age ranges and level placements below are suggestions only. Families of dancers age 8 and up should contact Director Jessica Wilson at jessica@hopartscenter.org to determine the most appropriate class. Placement in a level is subject to change and a student schedule may change during the course of a session based on the student's progression.
Registration is open throughout the year. Simply email jessica@hopartscenter.org for information.
Upper Dance Program 2023–2024
Ballet 5 & Jazz & Pointe
(For experienced dancers 7th-12th)
Students will work on skills in a structured class format to include barre work, center, and elements across the floor. Training continues to focus on alignment and technique while emphasis is placed on musicality, expression, and working together as a corps. Study of pirouettes, adagio, and allegro increases at this level, and lessons in creative dance improvisation are workshopped regularly. Students are encouraged to supplement their training with jazz dance. Set to age appropriate popular music of today, our jazz classes are inspired by classic broadway styles. Classes include a warm up, isolations, laterals, stretches, across the floor progressions, and choreographed combinations. The movements and music of each class will leave students feeling happy and energized. Students will also be exposed to regular enrichment throughout the year including dance history, music appreciation, acting, and guest teachers in various dance genres. Discounts are available for multiple dance classes taken per week. Students must be enrolled in a minimum of three days a week to participate in classes en pointe.
Registration Open throughout the year. Students are welcome to join mid-session.
Intermediate and Advanced Dance
(For experienced dancers 9th-12th)

DANCE CALENDAR
DRESS CODE
Proper dress code should really be thought of as proper equipment. It will allow the dancers to work correctly and safely.
-
The required clothing will allow dancers to see themselves in the mirror and learn the proper feel to movements. It will also allow instructors to easily view each dancers alignment.
-
Well fit dance shoes allow dancers to work correctly, preventing injury and ensuring safety.
-
Hair secured off the face allows the dancers to easily use eye focus during movements aiding movement quality and allowing the dancer to fully participate in the movement.
-
Please no jewelry in class other than small earnings.
Some local dance stores include WOW Dancewear in Auburn, Dance This Way in Concord, and Back Bay Dancewear in Burlington.
