What Sets Us Apart
The HCA offers a wide array of virtual and in-person classes and workshops in the visual arts, music, dance, theater, and ceramics. Programs are provided year-round for students of all ages, from pre-K to adult. Our talented artist-instructors provide a welcoming environment for students at all levels, from beginners to advanced. We will work with you to discover the best class for your needs. At the HCA we believe the arts are for everybody. If you are in need of financial assistance, please fill out our online scholarship form.

This foundational class will introduce students to basic ceramic techniques. Initial focus will be on basic wheel-throwing skills such as wedging clay, centering, forming vessels, and glazing. Later in the session students will be introduced to hand-building techniques and can then choose to work on individual wheel-thrown or hand-built projects. More advanced students will continue to expand their skills in throwing, hand-building and glazing techniques while working on individual and instructor inspired creations.

The Story Goes On Presents: The Lion King
Join us for a continuation of Story Book Theater's interactive theatre experience! The Story Goes on will also take a journey through our favorite stories, but students learn how to apply theatrical principles and structure to our adventures and explorations. There will be lots of games and activities that assist in building our story together. A final showcase will be presented to families on the final day.
Each session of The Story Goes On will focus on a new story. This class has a prerequisite of Story Book Theater.

Actor's Playground: At the Movies!
This acting class is perfect for students wanting to grow their performance skills and those that want to dip their toes into the world of performance for film and movie-making. This session students will play, explore, develop a sense of community and teamwork, gain confidence in speaking, and create characters while they explore foundational acting skills through games, scene work, music and improvisation. They will then translate these to creating scenes for the camera. The final class will result in a short screening of the students' work over the semester.

Mandala Painting: Adult and Child
Work side by side in this fun art workshop where you will be introduced to traditional Indian arts as you paint and decorate mandalas together. Meaning "circle" in Sanskrit, mandalas are believed to symbolize the universe and wholeness, and working on the designs can have a calming, meditative effect. Everyone will choose from a selection of canvases designed with round geometric pattern outlines, and begin by painting them in with acrylics, learning how to shade and combine colors. The second half of the class will be dedicated to embellishing your work with floral-like designs and cut pearls, sticker stones, small cut mirrors etc. Ages 7+.
