About the event
Hey, blues enthusiasts! Are you ready for this?
Three amazing performers for our third annual Winter Bluesfest are taking the stage on Saturday, February 3, 2024 — get ready for the Chris Fitz, the Ken Clark Organ Trio, and Diane Blue!
HCA welcomes back our friend Chris Fitz, who will MC Bluesfest and play an acoustic set of his original songs.
Boston's Diane Blue is a “multi-talented performer who’s equally at home belting out a blues standard or cutting loose with a ferocious harmonica solo.” (Bill Van Siclen, Providence Journal). Diane’s reputation as a sensational entertainer has led her all over the United States and on European tours, where audiences enjoy her traditional and original songs. A multi-nominated and award-winning artist, she competed at the 2011 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. Diane has shared the stage with many greats, including Muddy Waters’ guitarist Luther “Guitar Jr.” Johnson, Irma Thomas, Toni Lynn Washington, and the late Big Jack Johnson of Clarksdale, Mississippi, who called Diane a “monster on the harp.”
Ken Clark Organ Trio has performed around New England and the eastern U.S. for 15 years. "Organist Ken Clark, guitarist Mike Mele, and drummer Steve Chaggaris lean on the beat funk, shuffle boogaloo back beat ballad), build dynamic climaxes sprinkle in jazz solos, and deliver the goods. Clark controls the B3 like a master: hip bass lines, sizzling chordal washes, feel-good riffs, funky blues lines, and syncopated accents figure in the mix. The groove, the sonic power of the organ, and a soulful message are a forceful combination for reaching people from the church to the dance floor. Can't beat the feeling." ~ Owen Cordle, Jazz Times
