About the event
Kote’m Sòti (Where I Come From)
"Where I Come From" is a project designed to educate people about Haiti's positive attributes. While some might view Haiti solely as a poor and corrupt country, they often miss its rich culture, which is the most vibrant in the Caribbean. This culture encompasses a diverse array of elements, including food, music, voodoo, and art, as well as a wealth of traditional folklore. Haiti's culture is a unique fusion of African, European, and Taino influences.
In this exhibit, I aim to showcase a different side of Haiti through my paintings, offer visitors the opportunity to experience authentic Haitian cuisine, and provide the sounds of our handmade instruments, played by a street band called "RARA." My goal is to ensure that this experience stands out from other exhibits at HCA. Besides showcasing my artwork, I want to make it an educational experience for everyone.
