Sublime Odissi

Odissi is a lyrical style of Indian Classical dance with origins in the ancient temple rituals of India. It creates intricate footwork patterns and sculptural postures while weaving stories of love and devotion.

Mouli Pal is an exponent of Odissi, a captivating performer, dedicated teacher, choreographer, and cultural ambassador. She has been intensively trained under the personal tutelage of the legendary Maestro Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra. Presently, she continues to train under the guidance of eminent Odissi dancer Smt. Nandini Ghoshal in Kolkata. Prestigious presenters across the United States, India, and Austria regularly present Mouli. Her performances include solo concerts at the prestigious Hopkins Center for Arts at Dartmouth College, Provincetown Dance Festival, Munroe Center, Yuwa Bharati California, and Trinetra Boston.

Mouli is the founder and director of Upasana Odissi, a non-profit that promotes Odissi through concerts and offers scholarships to young, deserving college-bound dancers. She teaches widely and mentors about fifty budding Odissi dancers from five years to 55 years old.

The program will also feature a slideshow about the history and origins of the dance and will end with a Q and A session.
